I think #cdmug on freenode should be our official chat channel. I am one of those people who is on IRC 24.7 either way. So joining a new channel is not a problem. While it would be cool to have people idel in the channel to help with issues. I think it would be even better to have online meetings. Maybe we can have an online meetup every 2 weeks and a real meeutp every other 2 weeks.
The new version of cdmug.org will have a new chat system other than phpfreechat. I will want to focus on opening #cdmug on freenode @ within cdmug.org in future site versions.
Any thoughts or ideas for this? I think having online meetups can help us take care of administrative duties, keep organized, and keep the group moving forward.
Monday 8 pm - midnight.
Not many people leave the house Monday night, so I figured this would be a good night. People can come in and chat with other CDMUG members. We can have open discussions and plan for future events. Feel free to join the chat for any of the time between 8pm and midnight.
Let me know your ideas on this date/time...
I love the IRC idea. Now the meetings can hold unlimited amount of people. Face time is a great resource. Perhaps we can create smaller meetups about specific topics rather than a meetup with general discussions. Keep the monthly General Purpose Meetup and use the more focused meetups for the dedicated CDMUGers.
Maybe the IRC can be the focused meetups, but there is only so much I can do with a chat window. Maybe a video chat/presentation? But doesn't Drupal Groups already do something like this?
I guess we should make some CDMUG goals and implement them.
Just some random ideas.

I created a "IRC nick:" field from the admin/user/profile - :-0) - It is setup to be Visible in user registration process.
