The Chicago Drupal community seems to be extremely active. I believe it is time for more frequent events take place. It is obvious that once a month is not sufficient for our group. Here are some ideas I have for future events, please add more.
Code sprints CDMUG members can meet on a day to accomplish a common task. We can meet at a place and code all day until we are pleased with our results.
Online meetups A weekly meeting will be held in #cdmug on freenode. I think Monday nights from 8 pm to midnight will be a great time. People can discuss cdmug/Drupal related ideas in a common place at a common time. I will be idling in the channel 24/7, so there will be times to communicate outside of the official meeting times. I plan on bringing a bot into the channel for logging/functionality purposes. Please post opinions for online meetup date/time.
Continue monthly meetings @ onShore @ a 15 person limit. This meetup will always take place in addition to other events. These smaller meetings can be for dedicated CDMUG members and/or special events.
Larger events for 20 - 50 people I want to start with a 30 person event within the next 2 months. We can go from there with new venues and RSVP limits. As new meetup locations become available, we can invite as many people as possible. Hopefully we can have larger events once a month in the near future.
Utilize cdmug.org forum We have a great resource of Drupalers on cdmug.org. It would be great if more members became active on the forum to help strength our community. I believe the forums would be the best place to advertise consulting services or clients to find developers.
