Drupal Hosting and Amazon EC2 and S3

How about we take something like this on? http://drupal.org/node/190750

A Hosting Benchmark site - we could even do it as a DTD.

Seems to be an issue, real quantifiable information on different web hosts. The basic idea is to create a node for hosts and collect performance data based on a common benchmark.

I could sure use it right now. I've just spent the better part of 4 hours investigating options for changing my hosting situation. I also included looking into Amazon EC2 and S3 for the potential to host and/or augment the performance and scalability. (mentioned by our visitor from Atlanta last night).

Of course I have looked at the suggestions from you folks, (IDCsoft, midphase (AN hosting), Media Temple,) I also read through this thread http://drupal.org/node/110531 (boy are my eyes tired)

I found this post (no one responded to the pour guy, so I thought I would) http://drupal.org/node/150302#comment-632073

I also posted this if anyone is interested in following it:

LMServers/CDMUG would be willing to host a benchmark website. Who will develop the code?
