Do you LUV Panels? Do you HATE Panels markup? Do you LUV the Zen Layout Method? So you want your entire site to USE Panels?
If so, this session is definitely for you. If not, you can at least learn how to create your very own panels layout for your zen subtheme. We’ll be showing how to incorporate the zen layout method into a panels layout, that you can then reuse from site to site.
Here we will weigh the Pros and Cons of Using Grid Systems (e.g. 960 or Blueprint) vs. Starter Themes (e.g. Zen, Mothership) vs. Full Custom (e.g., roll your own). What benefits do each offer and when are they most appropriate?
PHP 5.3 was released almost a year ago, but very few Drupal developers are familiar with the significant enhancements in this version. In fact, until only recently Drupal was incompatible with PHP 5.3, and to this day there are still many bugs, particularly in contrib. While we can keep pushing off learning the nuances of this new version, we will eventually need to cave in. Almost all Linux distributions and WAMP/XAMP/MAMP bundles will include PHP 5.3 by default, and 5.2 will be phased out soon.
Come and learn about the flexibility of Drupal and how it can be applied to a unique business idea, such as wedding planning.
Neha Goyal, President of Marigold Events/ Launching Frog, will present a case study discussing the flexibility of Drupal in creating a full fledged wedding planning website with wedding planning tools, photo gallery, forums and member/vendor search for brides and vendors.
We will talk about the following topics during this session:
1. The need for this project
2. The vision for this project
